Rima Hassan, a Member of the European Parliament, is facing criticism after allegedly throwing the Israeli flag to the floor at a memorial exhibition in Strasbourg commemorating the victims of the October 7th Hamas attacks. The exhibition, which includes photos and objects related to the massacre, was initiated by Hildegard Bentele, Chair of the EU-Israel Delegation, and featured Israeli artists and survivors of the attack.

According to eyewitnesses, Hassan, described as belonging to the far-left faction of the European Parliament, entered the exhibition and, after a brief conversation, returned and dramatically tossed the Israeli and European Union flags onto the ground. The incident has drawn strong condemnation from other European lawmakers.

Julien Odoul, a Member of the French Parliament, called Hassan a "spokesperson for Hamas in the European Parliament" and labeled her party a "disgrace." Félix Blake, another MEP, stated that Hassan's actions, which occurred in front of images of the victims, sent a clear message that should be unequivocally condemned.

A complaint is expected to be filed against Hassan as a result of the incident. The memorial exhibition aims to honor those killed in the October 7th attacks.
