Hapag-Lloyd Revises Bid for Shipping Giant Zim Amid State Review
German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has informed Zim Integrated Shipping Services that it intends to submit a revised acquisition offer for the Israeli company. Zim announced the development to the stock exchange on Wednesday, stating that Hapag-Lloyd will seek approval from Israel's Government Companies Authority and the state for the new proposal.
The announcement follows a letter from the Government Companies Authority, revealed by Calcalist, which indicated the authority had concluded its review of the original deal structure. The authority informed Zim that if the parties wish for a new offer to be considered, it must be submitted in full detail to allow for an informed decision regarding the transaction and the state's 'golden share' in Zim.
Zim itself retains rights concerning a new deal only if the revised offer alters the existing terms, whether favorably or unfavorably. The state's involvement is crucial as it holds significant control over the company's future.
