Maccabi Tel Aviv Signs Roman Sorkin to New Contract Through 2030

Maccabi Tel Aviv officially announced on Tuesday that they have signed Roman Sorkin to a new contract extending through the 2030 season. The deal comes after a lengthy negotiation period over the summer. Sorkin, who turned 30 in August, will reportedly earn approximately $1.6 million per season, a significant upgrade from his previous contract.

Sorkin initially signed a five-year deal in 2024 for $900,000 per season, with his salary gradually increasing each year to a high of $1.1 million. This new agreement represents a substantial raise of about 45%.

Last season was Sorkin's most productive individually in the EuroLeague, where he averaged 13.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, shooting 51.6% from the field and 34.1% from three-point range. With Maccabi facing a double-week schedule against Besiktas and Panathinaikos, Sorkin is also on track to become Maccabi's leading scorer in the EuroLeague this season, surpassing Scottie Wilbekin.

Earlier this summer, Sorkin expressed frustration with the contract talks, stating in an interview that there were no relevant negotiations and that an initial offer was not suitable. He reassured fans that he had three years remaining on his existing contract and would remain with the team. Approximately five weeks ago, discussions resumed, with Sorkin initially rejecting an offer of $1.3 million per season as insufficient before a resolution was reached.
