Israeli Missing on Mount Olympus: New Clues Emerge in Search Efforts

Eight days after losing contact with Ami Yogeve, who went missing on Mount Olympus in Greece, new information has emerged that may help focus the search. A delegation from the Israeli volunteer rescue organization United Hatzalah arrived in the area at the request of the Greek rescue unit. Yogeve's brother, Shlomi Yogeve, stated that the new information is crucial for narrowing down the search areas.

David Krispil, a member of the Israeli search team, reported that they were preparing to commence operations early Tuesday morning, utilizing drones, thermal imaging systems, night vision equipment, and satellite communication. Israel's Consul in Greece, Herzel Edri, confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating efforts between the local Greek authorities and the Israeli teams.

Yogeve last communicated with his mother on September 20, sending her photos from the mountain. He mentioned he was sleeping on the mountain and preparing to climb to an altitude of 2,700 meters. His phone has been unreachable since. His rented car, along with his suitcase, bag, and laptop, were found at the trailhead parking lot, according to his family.

The family revealed that Yogeve left Israel without travel insurance, leading his mother to fund the private search efforts out of pocket. A crowdfunding campaign has been launched by the family to finance the rescue teams. The search continues in coordination with Greek authorities, with the Foreign Ministry's Consular and Israelis in Distress departments actively engaged with local officials to locate him. The family is appealing for financial assistance to continue the search operations.
