Charity Delivers Holiday Kits to Lone Soldiers and Widows

Hundreds of lone soldiers serving in the IDF and hundreds of widows across Israel received surprise holiday kits containing a special set of the Four Species (Lulav and Etrog) for the Sukkot holiday. The complex logistical project was undertaken by the 'Kollel Chabad' charitable organization.

While Kollel Chabad typically focuses on extensive financial and material aid, the organization places special emphasis on cultural and traditional support during the holidays. This initiative aims to make holiday observances accessible to those facing significant challenges or living far from family.

Rabbi Shalom Duchman, head of the organization, stated that the operation was born from a deep sense of mission, following the directives of the Rebbe of Lubavitch. The goal is to reach everyone in need, especially soldiers on the front lines far from home, enabling them to fulfill holiday commandments with joy and peace of mind.

The project specifically targeted hundreds of widows and orphans, as well as lone soldiers. Mordechai Botnick, who serves as a paternal figure for English-speaking lone soldiers, and Si Wiesel led the effort for the soldiers, while Rachel Merton managed the wing for widows and orphans. Volunteer teams distributed the elaborate kits directly to homes or at designated distribution points, with assistance from the Renner family.
