Israeli Forces Clash With Settlers Near Nablus, Foiling Family's Return Home

Israeli security forces clashed with over 100 Israeli settlers who rioted near Nablus overnight Monday, preventing the return of a Palestinian family to their home in the village of Jalud. The settlers' actions, which included blocking roads, setting tires ablaze, and throwing stones at security personnel, caused damage to Palestinian property and structures. The operation to return the Toubasi family to their home, which they had abandoned in July following a series of violent incidents and property damage, was ultimately unsuccessful due to the unrest.

The Palestinian family had petitioned the High Court of Justice, which had ordered the state to explain why it would not facilitate their return and ensure their safety. Simultaneously, calls circulated within settler groups to prevent the family's return. Dozens of Israelis converged on the village, escalating the situation into confrontations with security forces and igniting fires in multiple locations. Videos from the scene showed fires burning and widespread chaos, including the torching of vehicles and a house within the village while residents attempted to extinguish the flames.

Israeli military spokespersons stated that forces used crowd-dispersal methods to break up the gathering. However, the settlers' violent actions thwarted the attempt to reinstate the family in their home.
