Israeli Settlers Attack Palestinian Villages Near Nablus and Ramallah, Ignite Fires and Clashes
Israeli settlers attacked the outskirts of the Palestinian village of Jalud, southeast of Nablus, overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday. They set fires and attempted to ignite poultry coops. The Israeli military and Border Police were dispatched to the scene, but the settlers fled before their arrival. Local Palestinian youths confronted the attackers, resulting in several Palestinians sustaining minor injuries, mainly from stone-throwing. The IDF spokesperson confirmed that forces worked to extinguish the fire with assistance from a Palestinian fire truck and reported no confirmed injuries.
Kais Abbad, a Jalud resident, described severe restrictions on movement due to settler presence, stating, "I cannot leave my house because they will beat me. They are all around our home." He and his brother moved their families to safer locations, expressing feelings of danger and neglect by Israeli police and civil administration. Abbad recounted a settler offering to buy his home months ago with a threat implying he might die if he refused, to which he responded he was ready to die. He described life as unbearable and living under an illogical siege.
Clashes reportedly began in the evening near an area called "Al-Wad," involving tear gas and a military drone. Settlers allegedly blocked roads, preventing electricity company crews from repairing power outages. The village thanked neighboring communities for support during the confrontations.
Additional attacks occurred near the town of Turmus Ayya, northeast of Ramallah, where settlers set agricultural lands on fire and damaged property. Residents reported live fire directed at youths confronting the settlers, though no injuries were reported. Palestinian rescue organizations called for Red Crescent and civil defense intervention. Following the incident, IDF forces entered Turmus Ayya and deployed near Omar Abu Khatin Square. The IDF stated the matter is under investigation.
Furthermore, settlers attacked an agricultural facility near Kamas, on the outskirts of Beita south of Nablus, under IDF protection. These events highlight ongoing tensions and violence involving settlers and Palestinian communities in the West Bank.
