Ex-Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar to Sue Netanyahu for Defamation
Former Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar announced his intention to file a defamation lawsuit against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Bar also seeks to obtain documents and meeting schedules related to Netanyahu's interactions with the security establishment and foreign officials prior to October 7th. He further stated that Netanyahu's aides, who he claims are involved in a "manipulative campaign," will be summoned to testify.
Bar accused Netanyahu of launching an "unbridled and baseless incitement campaign" in response to emerging testimonies about warnings the Prime Minister allegedly received before the Hamas attack. "When testimonies about warnings he received begin to surface, he tries to divert the blame," Bar stated.
Due to Netanyahu's immunity as prime minister, it remains uncertain whether the lawsuit will proceed to a court hearing.
