Tel Aviv Tiramisu Spot Sparks Recipe Ownership Debate
A new dessert-focused eatery, Tiramisù di Paradiso, has opened in Tel Aviv, specializing exclusively in tiramisu. The establishment, located at 43 Nachalat Binyamin, operates from Sunday to Saturday starting at 6 PM. This venture follows a trend of single-dish specialty restaurants. However, its launch has been accompanied by a dispute over the recipe and presentation concept.
Dana Li Berman, the former chef at the adjacent Bar Paradiso restaurant, claims ownership of the tiramisu recipe and its unique serving style, which involves presenting the dessert directly from a box. The controversy gained public attention after journalist Nadav Bornstein published the story, leading to online discussions about whether the recipe belongs to the restaurant or the former chef.
Despite the debate, customers can choose from three tiramisu variations: classic for 34 shekels, raspberry for 36 shekels, and pistachio for 38 shekels. The menu also includes beverages such as sparkling water (16 shekels), alcoholic sparkling water (41 shekels), and espresso martinis (46 shekels).
