Israeli Player Ofri Arad Faces Owner Criticism at Steaua Bucharest

Israeli footballer Ofri Arad is reportedly facing scrutiny from Gigi Becali, the owner of Romanian club Steaua Bucharest (FCSB). Arad, a 28-year-old defender/midfielder, is among several players Becali is allegedly dissatisfied with following a recent poor run of form for the team, including a heavy 5-0 defeat to Universitatea Craiova.

However, club chairman Mihai Stoica has publicly defended Arad, suggesting he was one of the few players who performed adequately during the embarrassing loss. Stoica specifically noted Arad's performance in his 46 minutes on the field, stating he played "quite well" and was a rare positive in an otherwise dismal display.

Stoica also defended teammates Ayman El-Haj and Arnold Gruber, another former Hapoel Be'er Sheva player. He highlighted El-Haj's contributions in his limited playing time against Craiova and expressed his preference for Gruber's committed effort, even if his potential is not fully realized.

El-Haj has been linked with a move to Universitatea Craiova, while Gruber's loan deal is set to expire in the winter. The situation surrounding Arad remains uncertain, with Becali's displeasure contrasted by Stoica's praise, indicating a fluid dynamic within the club regarding the Israeli player.
