Jimmy Clark Shines as Maccabi Tel Aviv Dominates Kiryat Ata in Cup Game
Maccabi Tel Aviv secured a decisive 109-61 victory over Kiryat Ata, advancing to the Winner Cup semifinals. The team showcased strong offensive performance, hitting 14 of 28 three-point attempts. Guard J.J. Clark was a standout player, contributing 11 points and a game-high seven assists in just 19 minutes of play. Clark also added three steals and shot efficiently from beyond the arc and the free-throw line.
Clark, who recently recovered from a partial hamstring tear that caused him to miss the preseason, is gradually regaining his form. He played significant minutes alongside point guard Yiftach Ziv and other teammates, demonstrating his versatility after primarily playing as a shooting guard last season. His performance against Kiryat Ata followed a nine-point, six-assist outing in a previous game against Villeurbanne.
Daniel Theis, Maccabi Tel Aviv's leading scorer, acknowledged the team's need to build rhythm and intensity. "We need to play stronger, we weren't ready against Villeurbanne and it showed from the first minute," Theis stated. "In the EuroLeague, teams are good, we need to play strong and well from the first moment."
Maccabi Tel Aviv is now preparing for a demanding double week in the EuroLeague, facing Besiktas on Wednesday and Panathinaikos on Friday.
