Holiday Meat Price Check: Rami Levy Leads on Ribeye, Half Chozen on Bulk Buys

Ahead of the holiday, a price comparison of fresh meat across major Israeli supermarket chains reveals significant price differences for popular cuts. The investigation focused on ribeye, ribs, and shoulder cuts, examining online offerings from Rami Levy, Yohananof, Half Chozen, and Carrefour.

Rami Levy emerged with the lowest price for ribeye at 169.90 shekels per kilogram, offering unlimited quantities. They also provided the lowest price for a single kilogram of ribs at 66.10 shekels. Their shoulder cut was priced at 61 shekels per kilogram, just one shekel more than the lowest price found elsewhere.

Half Chozen offered the most competitive prices for bulk purchases, particularly for ribs, which were 60 shekels per kilogram when buying two kilograms. They also had the lowest price for shoulder at 59.90 shekels per kilogram and a bone-in ribeye steak for 99.90 shekels per kilogram.

Yohananof matched Rami Levy's ribeye price of 169.90 shekels per kilogram but limited purchases to 3 kilograms per customer and offered a narrower selection online. Carrefour presented the highest prices across most categories, with their ribeye costing 194.90 shekels per kilogram and ribs and shoulder at 96.90 shekels per kilogram for a single kilogram. Even their bulk shoulder deal of 65 shekels per kilogram remained more expensive than regular prices at other chains.
