Meat Prices Vary Significantly Across Israeli Supermarket Chains Ahead of Holiday
A special investigation conducted ahead of the upcoming holiday has revealed substantial price differences, amounting to hundreds of shekels, for meat products across various supermarket chains in Israel. The study, broadcast on the "Galboa Index" program on i24NEWS and conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Retail Research, compared the prices of a basket of meat items in four different retail chains.
The findings placed Rami Levy Marketing Hashikma at the lowest price point, while Machanei HaShuk emerged as the most expensive.
According to the data presented, the cheapest meat basket was found at Rami Levy Marketing Hashikma, costing 1,314 shekels. Victory ranked second, with consumers needing to pay 1,406 shekels for the same basket, a difference of 92 shekels compared to the cheapest option.
The price gap widened considerably with the remaining two chains. Tib Ta'am's meat basket totaled 1,580 shekels, which is 266 shekels more than the price found at Rami Levy. This means the difference between the cheapest and most expensive meat basket is 266 shekels, a significant sum that could notably impact a family's overall holiday budget for substantial meat purchases.
