Father and Son Arrested for Stealing 16 Beehives in Northern Israel
Israeli police have arrested a 66-year-old father and his 36-year-old son from the Arab village of Musheirifa on suspicion of stealing 16 beehives. The thefts occurred from Kibbutz Ein Harod and the community of Hogla. The investigation began following reports of missing beehives over several weeks. Police conducted a covert investigation, utilizing technological means to gather evidence against the suspects.
During the investigation, officers located 16 beehives in the Megiddo Forest area, believed to be the stolen property. Some of these have been identified as originating from Ein Harod and Hogla. Following this discovery, police, along with other security units and representatives from the Beekeeping Council and the Ministry of Agriculture's intelligence unit, searched the suspects' homes in Musheirifa, located in the Wadi Ara region.
The father and son were detained for questioning. All 16 recovered beehives have been returned to the Beekeeping Council. The police stated that the theft was an unsuccessful attempt to profit from stolen goods.
