Hapoel Beersheba has turned down a major offer from Russian club Akron for attacking midfielder Mohamed Abu Rumi, as the Israeli champions focus on strengthening the squad and preventing further departures before the new season. The report said the club is not currently planning to sell him.
Akron, a lower-table team in Russia’s top division, reportedly offered Abu Rumi a base salary of about 400,000 euros a year, roughly twice what he earns in Beersheba. The move surfaced on Monday, June 22, 2026, as the club prepares for the start of the season.
Abu Rumi joined Beersheba from Kiryat Shmona during the winter transfer window. Since then, he has scored one goal in his last 12 appearances in red and helped the team win its sixth league title.
