Hapoel Be'er Sheva Pursues Bassem Za'aroura Amid Interest From Russian Club

Hapoel Be'er Sheva is actively seeking to sign midfielder Bassem Za'aroura from Maccabi Netanya ahead of the upcoming Champions League playoff against Sabah. The club has approached Za'aroura in recent days as part of their efforts to strengthen the squad. Meanwhile, Russian Premier League newcomer Rodina Moscow has also expressed interest in the player, who is attracting attention from clubs in Poland and Ukraine as well.

Za'aroura's contract with Maccabi Netanya is set to expire this summer, allowing him to negotiate a free transfer starting in January. Although his contract was originally due to end last season, an option for an additional year was exercised at the request of coach Roni Levy after Za'aroura transferred from Maccabi Haifa for 900,000 euros. Maccabi Haifa retains 25% of Za'aroura's player rights, meaning they stand to gain a significant sum if Netanya sells him.

This potential transfer follows a pattern of profitable player sales for Maccabi Haifa, which has already earned 5.95 million euros from summer transfers before completing the deal for Anan Khalaily to Crystal Palace. The club has sold several promising talents in recent years, including Daniel Dappa for 1.8 million euros and Joslin Tabi for 4 million euros, both under sporting director Ross Kastin. Other notable sales include Eitan Azulai, Boris Ino, Omri Gandelman, Raz Shlomo, and Eden Kartsev.

Despite some rivalry among fans, the relationship between Hapoel Be'er Sheva and Maccabi Netanya remains positive. Two years ago, Be'er Sheva purchased Guy Mizrahi from Netanya, and last year Igor Zlatanovic moved to Be'er Sheva on a free transfer.
