Hapoel Be'er Sheva has turned down a lucrative offer from Russia for attacking midfielder Mohamed Abu Rumi, as the reigning champions try to hold onto key players while preparing for the new season. According to Sport 5, the club decided not to sell him at this stage.
The offer came from Akron, a struggling team in Russia's top division, which reportedly offered Abu Rumi a base salary of about 400,000 euros, roughly double what he earns in Be'er Sheva. The report said the bid reflected the club's intention to keep strengthening the squad while also resisting the departure of important talents.
Abu Rumi joined Be'er Sheva from Kiryat Shmona in the winter transfer window. He has scored one goal in his last 12 appearances in red and was part of the squad that won the club's sixth league title. The report did not say whether Akron plans to return with a new bid.
