Israeli striker Sean Weissman is in advanced negotiations with Dinamo Batumi and could join the Georgian side as a free agent. The 30-year-old had been a candidate for Beitar Jerusalem, but after his latest move abroad, the club is now expected to look at other options.
Weissman became available after his contract with Blau-Weiss Linz ended. He scored nine goals and added one assist this season for the Austrian club, which was relegated. Before that, he played for Granada, Salernitana and Real Valladolid.
Batumi, which is currently fourth in the Georgian league with 27 points, is five points behind leaders Rustavi. The league is being played on a calendar-year schedule and is running in parallel with the World Cup. Weissman could reportedly link up there with Avka Ashta in what the report described as an Israeli-heavy presence in the league.
His agent, Boaz Goren, told 5 in the Air, News Room that several European options should be resolved soon, saying, "There are a few things from Europe that should be settled soon, one way or another, and he will need to make a decision. Beitar? In Israel, anyone can represent Sean, they know who he is and what he is worth."
