Israeli striker Sean Weissman, 30, is in advanced negotiations with Dinamo Batumi and could join the Georgian club, which is also home to Avuka Ashta. Weissman is currently a free agent after his contract with Blau-Weiss Linz ended, and the move would keep him in a Georgian league that is running during the World Cup period.
Weissman scored nine goals and added one assist this season for Blau-Weiss Linz, which was relegated. Before that, he played for Granada, Salernitana and Real Valladolid. The forward has been one of the most prominent Israeli players abroad in recent years.
Weissman had been among the candidates to return to Beitar Jerusalem last summer, but that option now appears to be fading as the club looks at alternatives. Dinamo Batumi is fourth in the Georgian league with 27 points and trails leaders Rustavi by five points.
His agent, Boaz Goren, told 5 on the Air, News Room that there are several European options that should be resolved soon, saying Weissman will need to make a decision. On Beitar Jerusalem, Goren said, "In Israel, anyone can represent Sean, they know who he is and what he is worth."
