Bluebird Aviation Leads in Flight Cancellations from Ben Gurion Airport

In the past week, 44 flights were canceled out of over 3,000 scheduled departures from Ben Gurion Airport, marking a 23% decrease in cancellations compared to the previous week. Bluebird Aviation recorded the highest cancellation rate at 3.2% of its flights. Arkia followed with a 2% cancellation rate, and Wizz Air Malta with 1.9%.

Beyond outright cancellations, 27 flights experienced delays exceeding eight hours, a duration legally considered a cancellation for passenger rights purposes. The longest delay was for a Red Wings flight from Sochi to Tel Aviv, with passengers waiting 17.5 hours past the scheduled departure time.

Heraklion, Crete, was the destination most affected by cancellations, with seven flights canceled during the week. September 23rd was the most problematic day, with 16 flight cancellations.

Despite the overall decrease in cancellations from the prior week, the data highlights that passengers can still face significant delays or cancellations, especially during peak travel periods. Travelers are advised to check their flight status close to departure and be aware of their rights in case of schedule changes.
