MK Tally Gotliv Launches Scathing Attack on Attorney General

Member of Knesset Tally Gotliv has escalated her public confrontation with Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, launching an unprecedentedly harsh verbal assault. Gotliv accused the Attorney General of "election propaganda" regarding her decision to intervene in a tender issued by the Ma'ale Adumim municipality. "The pathetic and desperate Attorney General Miara is making moves that are truly death throes in her role," Gotliv stated, asserting that Baharav-Miara's tenure is nearing its end due to her perceived lack of professionalism.

Gotliv drew parallels between the current situation and previous legal actions, recalling an instance where Baharav-Miara allegedly tried to summon former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit as a witness, a move Gotliv claimed was dismissed by judges. "She also thought, by the way, that inviting Mandelblit to testify was election propaganda, and the judges threw her out completely," Gotliv said.

Looking ahead, Gotliv expressed hope that the Supreme Court would similarly reject the Attorney General's "absurd decision." She issued a direct warning to Baharav-Miara: "Try to do everything you can because you don't have much time left in the role, remember I told you. Continue to act unprofessionally, and it will be much simpler for me to impeach you."

This strong criticism follows a pattern of conflict between coalition members and the Attorney General's office. Gotliv specifically targeted Baharav-Miara's decision to postpone a housing tender in Ma'ale Adumim for a month, calling the justification of election propaganda "despicable" and claiming it harms Israeli citizens. This latest outburst comes just a week after Gotliv criticized Baharav-Miara's handling of the disqualification of Sami Abu Shehadeh from running for the Knesset, celebrating the "achievement for Itamar Ben-Gvir" and accusing Baharav-Miara of hesitancy in recommending the disqualification of the "terror supporter who encouraged the October inferno."
