Hasmonean Brigade Reserve and Regular Battalions Operate on Northern Front

Two battalions from the Hasmonean Brigade, the reserve "Shim'on" battalion and the regular "Yonatan" battalion, are currently operating in tandem along the northern border. This deployment is part of a broader effort to increase readiness and reinforce forces across all fronts during the High Holidays period.

The "Shim'on" battalion, the first reserve battalion of the Hasmonean Brigade, is participating in a defense mission in the northern sector for the first time. Its soldiers are graduates of a training track who enlisted for reserve duty after previously receiving exemptions. They underwent full combat training adapted to a Haredi lifestyle at the Hasmonean training base.

The "Shim'on" battalion is now operating alongside the "Yonatan" battalion, the brigade's regular unit, which has been fighting in the northern sector for over six months. The IDF notes that since the start of the war, dozens of regular and reserve battalions have been established as part of a large-scale process to expand the number of service members and reduce the burden on existing reservists and regulars.
