Ironman Triathlete Killed in Fatal Cycling Accident on Golan Heights
Tal Glubman, a 47-year-old resident of Kibbutz Kfar Haruv in the southern Golan Heights, was killed Saturday morning when his bicycle was struck by a vehicle on Highway 98 near the Magshimim junction. Glubman was a triathlete who had previously competed in the Ironman race.
His coach, Dan Alterman, one of Israel's greatest triathletes, posted a moving tribute to Glubman. Alterman described Glubman as a good friend and "salt of the earth," known for his quiet determination and pursuit of new challenges. He recalled Glubman's resilience, noting that he completed an Ironman with a broken shoulder. Alterman expressed his disbelief and sorrow, offering condolences to Glubman's wife, children, and family.
Glubman, who worked as a development manager at a software company, had moved to Kibbutz Kfar Haruv four years prior. In an interview at the time, he spoke about his enjoyment of living in the scenic Golan Heights and the proximity to nature, describing even short trips as feeling like an outing.
