Opposition Bloc Pledges Unity, Halts Internal Attacks Ahead of Elections
Leaders of Israel's opposition bloc, referred to as the "Change Bloc," met at the home of Opposition Leader Yair Lapid to present a "principles document." In this document, they committed to doing everything possible to increase voter turnout, secure a majority in the upcoming elections, and form a new government.
A key pledge within the document is a commitment to cease internal attacks. The leaders agreed that from now until a government is formed, no party within the bloc or its leader will attack another partner party or its head. This agreement aims to present a united front to the public.
To facilitate cooperation, the bloc divided into three joint working groups. These groups will focus on developing foundational principles for the next government. It was also decided that discussions regarding the bloc's candidate for prime minister would be postponed until after the elections, a point that Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the "Yisrael" party, had previously insisted upon.
