Opposition Leaders Forge Unity Pact, Vow to Oust Netanyahu

Leaders of Israel's "Change Bloc" opposition factions met Saturday evening and signed a four-principle agreement aimed at preserving their unity and advancing their shared goal of replacing the current government. The signatories included Gadi Eisenkot, Avigdor Lieberman, Yair Golan, Yair Lapid, and Naftali Bennett.

The agreement commits the party leaders to refrain from attacking other parties within the bloc and from attacking the leader they eventually agree upon. This clause appears designed to prevent internal disputes from undermining their collective effort.

Furthermore, the leaders agreed to establish joint working teams within 48 hours. These teams will focus on increasing voter turnout on election day, formulating the foundational principles for a future government, and combating fake news through a dedicated communications group.

The document also outlines key policy objectives should the Change Bloc form the next government. These include establishing a state commission of inquiry, imposing term limits on the prime minister, ensuring equal burden-sharing, and enacting a constitution.

The meeting and subsequent agreement signal a concerted effort by the disparate opposition parties to present a united front against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, with the explicit aim of replacing it.
