Israeli Opposition Leaders Forge Unity Pact Ahead of Elections

Leaders of Israel's "Change Bloc" of parties convened at the Tel Aviv home of Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid on Saturday evening, approximately one month before the Knesset elections. The meeting included Naftali Bennett, Gadi Eisenkot, Avigdor Lieberman, and Yair Golan. Following the gathering, Lapid presented a joint principles document signed by all five participants.

The meeting was pre-planned as an effort to enhance coordination among the parties as they enter the final stretch of the election campaign. Bennett had stated prior to the meeting that his goal was to "coordinate messages" and urged each party to work towards expanding the bloc without undermining other member parties.

The discussions also addressed existing disagreements among the party leaders regarding campaign management and their inter-party relationships. Shortly after the meeting concluded, Lapid announced the outcome, revealing that the participants had signed a joint document. He stated, "The leaders of the reform parties have signed a joint principles document to replace the government."

The signed document declared, "Recognizing that even if ideological disagreements exist among us, replacing the government is our shared paramount goal, and it is our duty to act together to achieve it."
