Hapoel Holon Signs New Guard Lester Medford Jr. on Temporary Contract

Israeli basketball club Hapoel Holon has signed American guard Lester Medford Jr., 33, to a temporary contract. The team had been actively seeking a new guard following recent developments.

Medford joins Holon after a season split between Slovakia's Inter Bratislava and Mexico's Gambusinos. In Slovakia, he averaged 12.5 points, 4.9 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game. After the Slovak season concluded, he moved to Mexico, where he posted averages of 14.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.4 rebounds.

Medford brings extensive European experience, including participation in the Basketball Champions League with VEF Riga, where he recorded averages of 14.1 points, 6.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds. His career also includes stints in Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, and Hungary.

Head coach Predrag Krunić expressed optimism about the signing, stating, "Lester is an experienced player who has played at various levels in several leagues. He is a point guard with good defensive and offensive skills who arrives in game shape, which is important as we are right before the start of the season." Daniel Re'em, the club's professional manager, added, "He comes to us with a lot of experience in European basketball and is in excellent game shape, so we believe his impact on the team will be immediate. He's a point guard who has shown in his career that he can create for himself and others at a high level, a good defender, and someone who can move the entire team."
