Hapoel Holon Basketball Team Signs New Guard Lester Medford Jr.

Israeli basketball club Hapoel Holon announced Saturday the signing of American guard Lester Medford Jr. on a temporary contract. The 33-year-old player joins the team after a season split between Inter Bratislava of Slovakia and a stint in the Mexican league.

In Slovakia, Medford averaged 12.5 points, 4.9 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game. He then moved to Mexico, where he posted averages of 14.3 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.4 rebounds. He also has extensive European experience, including playing in the Champions League for VEF Riga, where he averaged 14.1 points, 6.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds. His career has seen him play in numerous European leagues across Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, and Hungary.

Head coach Predrag Krunić expressed optimism about the signing, stating, "Lester is an experienced player who has played at various levels in several leagues. He is a point guard with good defensive and offensive skills who arrives in game shape, which is important as we are right before the start of the season." Daniel Revach, the club's professional manager, added, "He comes to us with a lot of experience in European basketball and is in excellent game shape, so we believe his impact on the team will be immediate. He is a point guard who has shown in his career that he can create for himself and others at a high level, is a good defender, and can move the entire team."
