Hapoel Holon Basketball Team Celebrates First Win, Seeks New Guard

Hapoel Holon secured their first official win of the season, defeating Maccabi Ramat Gan 83-80 in a dramatic Winner Cup game on Wednesday. The team, coached by Predrag Krunić, overcame a poor start and a 16-6 deficit to secure the victory in front of their home crowd, ending a two-game losing streak in the tournament. The club acknowledged the game's slow start, attributing it to the early preseason stage but emphasizing the team's eventual energy and comeback.

Guard Claudez Harris Jr. was a standout performer, leading Holon with 24 points and 6 assists, earning praise from the club. "Claudez gives a lot to the team and has much more to give," officials stated, highlighting his confidence, court presence, and team-oriented play. Center Adama Sanogo also contributed significantly with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The team is awaiting an assessment of Sam Iorio's condition after he sustained a hip/groin injury in the third quarter and left the game for treatment. He is scheduled for imaging to determine the severity of the injury, with the team hoping it is not serious.

In parallel, Holon is actively seeking an additional foreign guard to strengthen their backcourt. This search is prompted by the ongoing recovery of Dror Halawi from a hamstring tear and the impending arrival of naturalized guard Skylar Wicks, who is expected to join the team in the coming days.
