Lorenzo Brown Explains Move to Hapoel Jerusalem

American guard Lorenzo Brown arrived in Israel on Saturday to join Hapoel Jerusalem's training sessions, on loan from Milan until the end of the season. The 36-year-old, who previously played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, is replacing the injured Jared Harper. Hapoel Jerusalem has an option to terminate his contract, with the Italian club covering 30% of his salary. If he finishes the season with the Israeli team, Brown stands to earn $700,000.

"I feel great, it's nice to be back in Israel," Brown stated upon arrival. "The weather here is great. I feel like I'm back home. What attracted me the most was that Hapoel Jerusalem was interested in my situation. I didn't have many options, but the fact that Hapoel Jerusalem came and offered, showed interest in me and my situation, that's what brought me here. I look forward to winning. My usual role is to be a point guard and bring out the best in my teammates, and that's what I came to do."

Brown, the 52nd pick in the 2013 NBA draft, has had a varied career including stints in the NBA, G-League, China, Crvena Zvezda, Fenerbahce, Kazan, and two successful seasons with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He left Maccabi due to security concerns despite having a contract. After a season with Panathinaikos, he joined Milan, winning a championship and a cup, but was informed this summer that he was not in their future plans, despite a contract running until 2027.
