Lorenzo Brown Demands Release From Italian Basketball Club

Former Maccabi Tel Aviv point guard Lorenzo Brown, who also plays for the Spanish national team, has publicly appealed to be released from his contract with Italian club Olimpia Milano. Brown, 36, posted a two-word message on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, "Free me," indicating his desire to leave the team.

Brown is not part of Olimpia Milano's professional plans for the upcoming season, yet he remains under contract. Attempts to resolve his future have been ongoing, but no agreement has been reached. This situation is not new; the professional disconnect between Brown and Milano became apparent during the previous season when coach Giuseppe Poeta confirmed in late January that Brown was removed from the team's project and would not return to the roster for the remainder of the season. He had only played 12 EuroLeague games up to that point.

Since then, discussions have continued to find a settlement that would allow Brown to leave, especially since he has another year remaining on his contract. Milano has proceeded with building its roster for the new season without him. Reports had previously suggested an agreement for his departure was close, which would have allowed Brown to explore new opportunities, but these understandings did not materialize into an actual release. With the new season approaching, Brown remains tied to the club.
