IDF Destroys Two-Kilometer Hamas Tunnel Network in Southern Gaza

Israeli forces from the Givati Brigade and the Yahalom engineering unit have destroyed a two-kilometer-long underground tunnel network in southern Gaza as part of ongoing operations to clear the "yellow line" area of Hamas infrastructure. The operation, led by the Gaza Division's engineering unit (143), aims to dismantle the terror capabilities of Hamas in the region.

The destroyed tunnel system included various tunnels and facilities used by the organization for terrorist activities. The IDF forces in the Southern Command are operating in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to neutralize immediate threats. This includes thorough searches and destruction of underground infrastructure to prevent future terrorist use.

This operation is part of a broader, long-term effort where the Yahalom unit spearheads the engineering mission to eliminate underground infrastructure. The two-kilometer tunnel destroyed this week adds to tens of kilometers of tunnels already sealed and destroyed during the war.

The activity in the "yellow line" area, bordering Egypt, focuses on degrading Hamas's terror capabilities in a region where the organization has built an extensive network of tunnels and underground facilities over the years. The Givati Brigade and Yahalom are working closely to locate and destroy these infrastructures. The IDF stated that forces are continuing to operate according to the ceasefire agreement, maintaining high operational readiness and immediate response capabilities to any threat, including preventing arms smuggling into Gaza.
