Rabbi Abraham Levy, one of the best-known and most beloved figures in Jerusalem’s Givat Shaul neighborhood, died on Sunday at age 92. He was the elder brother of Rabbi Aryeh Levy, head of the Shachar Sachir yeshiva in Netivot and a member of the Council of Torah Sages.
Levy was born in Mea Shearim on 7 Tevet 5694, to Rabbi Aharon Yosef Levy and Mrs. Tzipora Iga née Rata. He was remembered as a lifelong man of Torah, devoted to learning, a deep admirer of scholars and their students, and someone who inspired his own תלמידים with Torah for decades.
The funeral left from the Miskhan Shimon synagogue on Ben Zion Street 15 in Jerusalem and proceeded to Har HaMenuchot, where he was buried. Rabbi Aryeh Levy accompanied his brother on the final part of the journey to the burial site.
