Israeli Forward Sent Off for Mock Gun Celebration
Israeli forward Sayed Abu Farach was sent off during his team's 3-1 loss to Austria in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday after celebrating a goal by mimicking a shooting motion with a corner flag. The 20-year-old player scored Israel's equalizer in the 55th minute with a header. Following the goal, Abu Farach ran to the corner flag, grabbed it, and made a gesture simulating firing a rifle. The referee had initially shown Abu Farach a yellow card four minutes prior, and then issued a second yellow for the provocative celebration, resulting in a red card and leaving Israel to play with ten men. Austria regained the lead in the 90th minute through Philipp Mwene and added a third goal in stoppage time via Sasa Kalajdzic, securing their victory. The match took place at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz.
