Protesters Disrupt Former PM Bennett's Visit to Bnei Brak, One Arrested

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett faced a hostile reception during a political visit to a restaurant in Bnei Brak on Thursday evening. The visit, part of the "Achim La'am" party's election campaign, was intended to be a discussion with yeshiva students.

However, a group of Haredi individuals reportedly shouted insults at Bennett, with one calling him an "anti-Semite." According to a statement from the "Achim La'am" party, two objects were thrown toward Bennett, one of which struck a female staff member on the head. The party claimed that political activists, not local residents, instigated the disturbance.

Video footage from the event shows individuals shouting at Bennett. In one clip, Bennett is seen confronting activist Mordechai David, telling him, "Go enlist, because when I am prime minister, you won't see a shekel." The party stated that the discussion with students had been proceeding well and objectively before the disruption.

The police announced that they had arrested one suspect in connection with the throwing of objects. The incident highlights the ongoing political tensions and divisions within Israeli society.
