Jewish Power Party Gains 8 Seats in New Poll After Security Portfolio Demand
A new poll by i24 News indicates that the Otzma Yehudit party, led by Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, would secure 8 seats if elections were held today. This surge in support comes in the wake of Ben-Gvir's public declaration this week stating his intention to demand the security (defense) portfolio for himself in the next government, alongside the justice portfolio for MK Tali Gottlieb.
The survey also shows the Likud party strengthening to 27 seats, while Gadi Eisenkot's party garners 22 seats. Naftali Bennett's party and Yair Golan's Democrats each receive 9 seats. In the Haredi parties, United Torah Judaism is projected to win 8 seats, and Shas 7 seats. Yisrael Beiteinu and the Joint List each receive 7 seats.
Bezalel Smotrich's Religious Zionism party is polling at 6 seats, as is Mansour Abbas's Ra'am party. The "Am Israel" party passes the electoral threshold with 4 seats.
According to the poll, the current coalition parties would collectively achieve 60 seats. The opposition bloc is projected to win 47 seats, and Arab parties together hold 13 seats.
