President Herzog Mourns Children's Author Yehuda Atlas

President Isaac Herzog eulogized renowned children's author and poet Yehuda Atlas, who passed away on Thursday. Herzog stated that Atlas's books were an integral part of the lives of Israeli children, with his work resonating deeply with generations.

"We were amazed each time by his precise ability to describe with an artist's hand the soul of a child," Herzog wrote, referencing Atlas's well-known book "And This Child Is Me." The President added that hundreds of thousands of Israeli children grew up with Atlas's creations, and even their parents found enjoyment and nostalgia for their own childhoods in his books.

Herzog described Atlas, who was born to farming parents and grew up in verdant landscapes, as having remained, "to a large extent, an eternal child." He noted that Atlas's talent allowed readers to connect with the inner world of children.

Concluding his remarks, Herzog offered condolences to Atlas's family and loved ones. "Atlas will be missed by many, but the fruits of his talent will surely continue to accompany the children of Israel for generations to come. My condolences to his family and all his admirers. May his memory be blessed."
