Israeli Defense Minister Warns Iran of Deep Sea Capabilities

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz delivered a strong warning to Iran and other adversaries during a ceremony marking the reception of the new submarine INS Drakon on Thursday. He stated that Israel's strategic capabilities now extend to the depths of the sea, asserting that "distance does not grant immunity, not by air, not by land, and not by sea."

Katz emphasized that the advanced vessel signifies a crucial enhancement to Israel's strategic and security power. Addressing the Iranian regime directly, he suggested that those accustomed to observing Israel's overt strength from afar should now recognize its reach into the ocean's depths. The minister reiterated Israel's commitment to developing its capabilities to neutralize threats, underscoring that enemies must understand the principle of inescapable reach.

He referenced past actions against Iran's nuclear program and strategic assets, as well as the elimination of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, whom he accused of leading a plan to destroy Israel. Katz praised the Navy's role in various combat zones, including covert operations, and commended its handling of provocations at sea, such as attempts by radical activists to reach Gaza.

Concluding his remarks ahead of the Sukkot holiday, Katz called for national unity, drawing a parallel to the "Four Species" used in the holiday ritual. He stressed that the strength of the Jewish people lies in their connection and unity, especially in their support for the IDF and security forces, which he believes has enabled Israel to overcome threats and will continue to do so.
