Israel's Defense Minister Sends Message to Iran With New Submarine Arrival
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared that the arrival of the INS Drakon, the sixth submarine of the Israeli Navy, serves as a message to Iran. The submarine completed a 23-day journey from Germany, docking in Haifa.
The INS Drakon's construction and testing phase spanned approximately 12 years. During its voyage from the Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems shipyard in Kiel to the Haifa naval base, the submarine covered 3,792 nautical miles, equivalent to about 7,000 kilometers.
"The arrival of the submarine is an important signal to all those who seek to threaten us, and above all to the bloodthirsty regime of the ayatollahs in Tehran," Katz stated during a ceremony. He emphasized that Israel will continue to enhance its capabilities to counter threats, adding that distance does not grant adversaries immunity "in the air, on land, or at sea."
Katz also highlighted the growing role of the Israeli Navy in operations across various fronts, predicting a significant increase in its importance in the future. The INS Drakon is the sixth submarine to join the Israeli fleet.
