Liberman Proposes Jordan Administer Palestinian Areas A and B

Avigdor Liberman, chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, has outlined his proposal for resolving the situation in Judea and Samaria, emphasizing the need for clear answers to difficult questions. He suggests Israel should focus its efforts on Area C, which constitutes approximately 60% of Judea and Samaria and is under full Israeli administrative and security control. Liberman proposes establishing a series of settlements in Area C and assuming complete responsibility for it.

Regarding Areas A and B, which each comprise about 20% of the territory, Liberman believes Israel needs to find a responsible party to manage them. Given his view that the Palestinian Authority has effectively become a terrorist organization, he suggests reaching an understanding with Jordan to administer these areas. He stated that Jordan has no choice but to take on this role, whether by deploying its army or establishing Jordanian-commanded battalions.

Liberman explained that the Palestinian issue is more critical for Jordan than for Israel, as 80% of Jordan's population is Palestinian, with the Hashemite dynasty and other clans making up only 20%. He believes Jordan would be compelled to manage Areas A and B due to this demographic reality.

This proposal echoes a similar idea Liberman presented during the war with Hamas, where he suggested disengaging from the Gaza Strip and transferring control to Egypt. Liberman's stance contrasts with the national camp's ideology, which advocates for the decolonization of the Land of Israel from Muslim settlers and opposes ceding territory to neighboring states.
