Palestinian Authority Chairman Abbas Addresses UN General Assembly Virtually

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas delivered a recorded address to the UN General Assembly, criticizing the United States for preventing the PA's physical participation in the event. He stated that this decision contradicts the US's commitments as the host nation for the UN headquarters and called for the reversal of sanctions.

Abbas warned of a significant impending danger that requires international community action, urging against allowing another "Nakba" to occur. He also condemned Israeli actions against UN facilities in Jerusalem and the West Bank, asserting that these attacks impede UNRWA's ability to fulfill its duties.

Furthermore, Abbas accused Israeli policies of violating international law and undermining the two-state solution. He specifically cautioned against the implementation of the E1 settlement plan, which he claims aims to divide the northern and southern West Bank. He also alleged that Israeli policies threaten the lives and existence of Palestinians.

Demanding the immediate release of over $6 billion in Palestinian funds that Israel allegedly holds, Abbas reiterated the call for full UN membership for Palestine. He concluded by denouncing escalating settler violence, which he stated occurs under the protection of Israeli forces, alongside ongoing land confiscation, home demolitions, checkpoints, and raids, all framed as systematic state terrorism based on racial discrimination and ethnic cleansing.
