Israeli Official Warns Iran Nuclear Action Is Matter of Time

An unnamed Israeli official told Saudi media on Thursday that a new round of strikes against Iran is "only a matter of time," citing Tehran's acceleration of its nuclear program. The official stated that Israel has recently observed increased efforts to fortify the nuclear project at the Pike's Peak mountain near the Natanz facility, a development previously reported in Israeli media.

Israel is "defensively and offensively prepared for the possibility of a renewal of war against Iran and also on other fronts, at any time," the official asserted. He confirmed that Israeli security forces "will act to strike again at nuclear facilities and any site belonging to them, should Tehran cross any red line, whether in cooperation with the United States or independently."

Despite the potential for military action, the official noted that "coordination with the Americans is strong and ongoing." He also suggested that economic pressure on Tehran, internal regime disputes, and domestic pressures could push Iran toward military responses in the region, potentially targeting Israel.

This statement comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts, including recent talks in New York between the U.S. and Iran mediated by Qatar on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. However, reports indicate that no agreements were reached due to persistent disputes over issues like the Strait of Hormuz and a lack of trust.

U.S. officials have also commented on the situation, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarifying that an attack on Iran remains a possibility for President Trump. The President himself recently suggested that conflict could resume after the midterm elections if diplomatic efforts fail by then.
