Israel Ready for Iran Escalation, Defense Minister Warns of Desperate Measures
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated on Thursday that Israel is well-prepared for any potential escalation with Iran, emphasizing that an Iranian attack would remove any limitations on Israel's response.
Speaking at a Rosh Hashanah toast event with Ministry of Defense employees, Gallant declared, "An Iranian attack on Israel will free Israel from any existing limitation in attacking Iran." He added that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are ready for any scenario, both defensively and offensively.
Gallant further warned that if attacked, Israel would strike all military and civilian national infrastructure in Iran, including energy facilities, pushing the country "deep into the Stone Age and darkness." He asserted that Iran's leadership understands why it has not attacked Israel, citing previous Israeli actions that destroyed Iran's nuclear program and targeted its leadership.
However, Gallant also noted signs indicating that severe economic pressure and fears of internal revolt could drive the Iranian regime to "desperate measures." He reiterated Israel's readiness for all possibilities, stating the IDF is prepared to carry out its mission.
