Election Committee Rejects Bids to Bar Far-Right Parties from Knesset Vote
Israel's Central Elections Committee, chaired by Judge Noam Sohlberg, continued its deliberations on Thursday for the second consecutive day regarding requests to disqualify Knesset candidates and lists for the 26th Knesset. The committee discussed petitions to exclude the "Otzma Yehudit," "Religious Zionism," "Zehut," and "The Democrats" lists from participating in the upcoming elections.
Ultimately, the committee rejected a request to disqualify Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and his "Otzma Yehudit" party, by a vote of 19 to 10. Petitions to disqualify the "Religious Zionism" and "Zehut" lists were also denied.
The committee's decisions mean that these parties, which represent segments of the Israeli right-wing and religious communities, will be allowed to compete in the elections.
