Election Committee Rejects Bid to Disqualify Religious Zionist Party
The Central Elections Committee has rejected a request to disqualify the Religious Zionist Party and the Zehut party, led by Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, from running in the upcoming elections. The request was filed by the Democratic Movement.
During the committee's discussion, Deputy Chairman MK Erez Malul confronted attorney Barnea, who represented the petitioners. Malul accused the petitioners of attempting to dismantle anything that did not align with their views, stating, "You are trying to dismantle everything that is not to your liking, and today it is the Religious Zionist Party."
The committee's decision means that both the Religious Zionist Party and Zehut will be allowed to participate in the elections.
