Israeli Election Committee Debates Disqualifying Parties and Candidates

The Central Elections Committee, headed by Justice Noam Sohlberg, began deliberations on Wednesday regarding requests to disqualify lists and candidates for the 26th Knesset. The discussions, scheduled for September 23-24, 2026, are taking place in the Knesset auditorium starting at 9:00 AM daily.

The committee is examining three separate requests to disqualify the Ra'am party list, submitted by Otzma Yehudit, the Likud party, and the "Voters for Life" forum. Conversely, two requests have been filed to disqualify the Otzma Yehudit list. One was submitted by "Other, for Equality and Human Rights," and the second by "The Democrats," founded by the Labor Movement.

Otzma Yehudit has also submitted a request to disqualify the list of "The Democrats," led by Yair Golan, and a separate request to disqualify Sami Abu Shehadeh. The committee is also addressing the Likud's demand to disqualify MK Ofer Cassif from running.
