Channel 14 Host Yaara Zerad Mourns Father's Death

Yaara Zerad, a prominent host on Israel's Channel 14, announced the passing of her father, Shalom Zerad, a long-serving career soldier. Zerad shared her grief on social media, writing, "My dear, wise, good, and beloved father. Thank you for everything, our hearts are broken." The announcement was met with condolences from colleagues and public figures.

Fellow broadcaster Tal Meir offered a "big hug" and wished comfort from heaven, while Knesset Member Ariel Kallner expressed his sorrow and wished the family "great comfort from heaven." Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi also extended his sympathies to Zerad.

Shalom Zerad, who passed away at an unspecified time, was an immigrant who arrived in Israel from Morocco at the age of five. Yaara Zerad is the youngest of four children. Her mother, Eva, immigrated from Iraq shortly after Yaara's birth.

Zerad is a well-known figure in Israeli media. She began her career at the "Hidabroot Channel" website and "Makor Rishon" newspaper. She later became a leading presenter and host at "Galei Yisrael" radio, covering current affairs and political commentary. She also served as a spokesperson for the Likud campaign's information center.

In 2020, Zerad joined Channel 14 (then Channel 20), where she hosted major programs like "Knesset Now" and "Situation Assessment." She went on to host the daily programs "Five" and "Seven," achieving impressive viewership ratings and establishing herself as a respected political commentator and a senior figure in Israeli broadcasting.
