Israel Gears Up for Sukkot Holiday with Diverse Family Activities

As the Sukkot holiday commences on the evening of Friday, September 25th, Israelis are preparing for a week of traditional observance and widespread travel. While the first and last days of the holiday, September 26th and October 3rd respectively, are typically spent at home with family, the intermediate days, known as Chol HaMoed, are a popular time for family outings and exploration.

This year, numerous events are scheduled across the country, with a particular focus on the northern region, offering a variety of attractions for all ages. These include interactive historical games, culinary festivals, theatrical performances, and nature-based activities.

In the north, highlights include the "Unraveling Time's Mysteries" game spanning 20 heritage sites nationwide, a Sweetness Festival in Kiryat Ata featuring dessert workshops, and the International Alternative Theatre Festival in Acre's Old City with free street performances. Hamat Gader National Park is offering guided tours of its ancient Roman baths and theater, while Haifa's Madatech Science Museum presents a "Starry Summer" exhibition with advanced robots and space-themed displays. Additionally, ROBOPARK at Hai-Park in Kiryat Motzkin showcases dozens of robots, and festivals dedicated to honey and chocolate are taking place in Alon HaGalil and Nof HaGalil.

Further north, the Amka moshav will host a "Milk and Honey" festival, Kfar Masaryk offers birdwatching and nature activities, and Gan Guru in the Valley of Springs celebrates its 30th anniversary with shows and animal encounters. Ramat Hanadiv provides lantern tours and nature workshops, while Hadera transforms its city center into a living stage inspired by the Book of Genesis. The city of Ma'alot-Tarshiha is set to host a "Festival of Flavors" with music, performances, and a children's zone, featuring concerts by Noa Kirel and Eden Ben-Zaken, and a Cinderella musical.
