Teacher Detained for Allegedly Arson in Jerusalem's Silwan Neighborhood
Police have formally charged a teacher suspected of setting fire to a home in the Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem. The investigation was launched following a murder that occurred last month in Silwan, which was followed by a wave of violent incidents, including arson attacks on homes.
According to police, a covert investigation led to the identification and arrest of the suspect, who was found to be employed as a teacher within the education system. Following the completion of the investigation, the findings were transferred to the Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office.
The prosecutor's office filed a public indictment against the suspect on September 23, 2026. His detention has been extended until September 27, 2026, as the legal proceedings continue.
