Police and Border Police arrested two adults and a minor on suspicion of setting fire to brushland near the Oferit military base in the Jerusalem area. The three, residents of the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya, are suspected of involvement in a blaze that broke out last Friday near the base.

According to police, a report about a vegetation fire near the military installation was received at emergency line 100. Officers from the Shalem police station and fighters from the Border Police’s Homa Battalion were dispatched to the scene.

During the investigation, with help from observers at the district command center known as Mevut Jerusalem, the three suspects were identified as allegedly being involved in starting the fire. They are ages 18, 19 and 16.

The suspects were taken to the Shalem station for further questioning and appeared before the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on Monday. At police request, the court extended their detention until Wednesday to allow investigators to continue their work.
